Chris Ison started out his journalism career in the wake of Watergate with an extended stint, eight years by his count, at the Minnesota Daily. He moved to the Duluth News Tribune for three years, then was hired at the Star Tribune where he worked his way up to assistant managing editor of investigative projects. He won a Pulitzer Prize in 1990 and joined the University of Minnesota journalism school as an associate professor in 2007.
