Reed Anfinson's father owned the predecessors to the Swift County Monitor between 1962 and 1990, when Reed Anfinson and his brother bought it. Anfinson went back to Benson to work at the paper after attending the University of Minnesota. He worked his way up to the position of editor/publisher. Afinson has won a number of awards related to freedom of information and will serve as president of the National Newspaper Association in 2011.
